Oil of the Spirit
The foolish said to the wise, "Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out."
Matthew 25:8 - NKJV
How do you prevent burn out happening to you like it happens to people in the world? Jesus gave us an example of a lifestyle that stays empowered. Like Jesus while you are in this body you will at times get tired but burn out shouldn't be something you experience. What goes wrong to cause burn out to happen? It happens when you start to burn instead of the oil! Christ called you a light but it is the oil of His anointing that is to burn. You are to be like the wick of a lamp. You aren't meant to burn up. The light of your flame is to be supplied by the oil of His anointing. Mat.5:14-16, Mat.11:28-30.
I have a small digital sound recorder. It runs on two rechargeable batteries giving me enough power to record 4 or 5 Sunday messages. It has an indicator telling me there's still power but it doesn't tell me how much. On occasion the recorder has run out in the middle of my sermon! I should have been monitoring my use and recharged the batteries earlier. As it was, for lack of power, I missed recording what the Lord gave me to preach.
In the midst of critical events is the wrong time to be needing a supply of power! As the reservoir of lamp needs replenishing and as my digital recorder needs recharging so your spiritual reservoir needs topping up! Get topped up so you can burn without smoking. Where do you go to get topped up? Go to Christ with an open and ready spirit to receive! Get still in a posture of worship while He replenishes you. Before heading off into the events of your life get recharged in the presence of the Lord! Isa.40:29-31.
Be flow with His oil!
