Our High Priest

by Pastor Simon

Now this is the main point of the things we are saying: We have such a High Priest...in the heavens.

Hebrews 8:1 - NKJV

The Letter to the Hebrews opens for us a window on Heaven and through it we see some of the most awesome of heavenly scenes and events. In the first chapter the scene is the throne room and the event is Christ's arrival as resurrected Lord. In chapters 9 and 10 an even mightier scene and event unfolds. It is Jesus in the Holiest of Holies ministering the blood of His sacrifice.

Many Christians know a lot about Jesus as Lamb of God but little about Jesus as High Priest. They are conscious of Jesus offered as the Lamb of God on the Cross but haven't discovered Jesus standing ministering as High Priest in Heaven. This ministry of Christ as He takes the Blood of the Lamb in the cup of salvation is the eternal event that the Letter to the Hebrews primarily deals with. It reveals to us how Jesus took the Blood of the Lamb in Heaven's Inner Sanctuary to ratify the New Covenant. It reveals how Jesus with the Blood of the Lamb accomplished a purifying and sanctifying in the heavenlies and for our hearts and consciences.

A wonderful message is presented to you in the Letter to the Hebrews. It's a simple and very important one; by the Blood ministered in Heaven's Sanctuary you can enter the Holiest of Holies and find perfect communion with God! In Heaven, as High Priest after the order of Melchizedek, Jesus did everything that needed to be done for you. By this you are reconciled forever to God! As the psalmist foresaw and therefore sang, "This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it!" Psa.118:24.

Rejoice for you are reconciled to God!
