Worship and devotions
O God, You are my God; Early will I seek You; My soul thirsts for You; My flesh longs for You In a dry and thirsty land Where there is no water.
Psalm 63:1 - NKJV
Let your body stand up and praise the Lord with uplifted hands! Psa.63:4. Let your soul also be moved by your thanksgiving and joy in Christ Jesus. Psa.63:5. Some people are passive and quiet in their personal devotion time and even in their church worship time. Not me! For along time I've realised the power of letting worship with all my heart become worship with all my being!
What do I mean by worship with all my being? I mean worship that gives way to body and soul getting involved in what the heart is enjoying with God. Look at the verse above. If you can, open your Bible and read the rest of that psalm. In that psalm the psalmist is acknowledging the needs of his whole being and he commits his whole being to worship. David starts the psalm with an expression from the heart, "O God, you are my God". This is a yearning coming out of his inner man, his spirit. After that comes the acknowledgement of how his body and soul feel. His soul thirsts. His body longs. His soul and body are hungering for refreshing too! So what does David do to get them in on it? He commits them to engaging in worship along with his spirit.
Get your spirit to notify your soul of your heart's rejoicing. Tell your soul to show it. (By soul, I'm referring to your mind, emotions and will.) The joy and gratitude that you have arising from your heart needs to be responded to by your soul as well. As your body and soul partake in your heart's overflow they will get refreshed.
Worship with all of your being!
