The rest of God's peace
You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You. Trust in the Lord forever, For in Yah, the Lord, is everlasting strength.
Isaiah 26:3-4 - NKJV
The holidays are over and you have to go back out into the business of this world. You will immediately notice that out in the world there's commonly a climate of confusion, uncertainty and fear. Thank God, that as a Christian, you can experience yourself set apart from that climate. There is a rest for the people of God no matter what's happening. It is the rest found in God's peace. It is a rest the people of this world cannot comprehend.
God's rest is glorious! However, you have to realise it isn't automatically yours just because you are a Christian. Indeed, you have to be diligent to enter into it. The verse I introduced this devotional message with gives you the pattern for entering God's rest. What does the prophet Isaiah reveal in it? You have to have your mind focused on Jesus. Voices and sights in the world may need attending to but they are not to steal your mind and make it preoccupied with them. Practically speaking how do you do this? Before your day begins take quality time in prayer, in praise to God and in reflection on the promises He has given you in His Word. Heb.4:9-10.
In your prayer time you can pray, "With You, Lord, is peace. In the world is confusion but with You I find sweet assurance. I resort to You. Be my strong refuge. Let me know Your peace keeping my heart and mind. I will pour out my heart to You letting You know my concerns. I will wait in Your presence as the ministry of Your Spirit settles me down in rest." Psa.71:4, Phil.4:6-7.
Take time each day to be in God's peace!
