The sunshine of His love
If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?
Romans 8:31-32. - NKJV
I was taking my devotional time in the early September sunshine of my garden one year. The garden had done particularly well that year and I was rejoicing in the Lord's provision, namely, that little portion of the Lord's inheritance that the garden represented. As I rejoiced I prayed, "Let the peace of covenant be upon us!". Immediately three words came to me, "Provision, protection and promotion". I wrote them down and I found myself underlining the beginning of each word, "Pro". Eph.1:18.
You see, the Latin root "pro" means "for". It indicates "for you". Remember, no matter who or what might be against you God is for you! In speech we use the phrase "pro and con". By that we're referring to "for and against". We describe a person's opinion as pro when we mean he's for something. God is pro His children. He is for us because His Son Jesus offered Himself for us to bring us into a covenant relationship with Himself. We are in a covenant of peace with our Heavenly Father. In this covenant relationship of peace we have provision, protection and promotion! 1Cor.11:25, Isa.54:10.
Reflecting on this I prayed, "Yes, Father, You are for me!" Say that to the Father and repeat it to yourself. Get close by your Heavenly Father's side so it's plain to your adversaries who they are up against. They are up against a Christian whose God is for him. Get under the shadow of God's wings so you can experience His covering protection. Call upon Him for His provision. Request of Him His promotion. Psa.91:1,4; Psa.75:6,7.
In Christ God is for you!
