Responding to God's Spirit
It is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.
Philippians 2:13 - NKJV
All of a sudden things look bad and people react to it. Smiles change in an instant to frowns of concern and anxiety. Movement gets agitated and desperate. "Of course, we react like that," people say, "it shows we're responsible people who care." OK, so that's how people who are without the hope that is in Jesus Christ react but why should the people of God be reacting that way? The people of God are meant to be letting their faith be their evidence. They are meant to walk by faith, not by sight.
Look honestly at yourself and other Christians around you and you're likely to recognise there's a lot of human reacting to people and circumstances going on. It is not controlled and initiated by God's Spirit. In the New Testament we have an example of this. In one of Paul's letter we discover that two women, Euodia and Syntyche, from one of his outreach teams were at odds with each other. Euodia must have reacted badly to the position Syntyche was taking over an issue or else it was vice versa. The result was a breakdown in their co-operation and perhaps some ugly behaviour. In place of reacting to one another they needed to respond to God at work in them. This was how they could be restored to sweet reasonableness. Phil.4:4:2-5, Ro.8:14.
Be someone who responds to God. There is a move of God's Spirit in you. Are you going to be moved by it? It's time to leave behind the way you've reacted to people and situations according to your natural man. You can accept a movement for change that brings you into the better place of maturity in Christ. Respond to the Holy Spirit within you! Your response will lead you into new blessings, favour and realms of good works.
God is at work in you to bring good
