Signs and wonders
The multitudes with one accord heeded the things spoken by Philip, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did.

A young believer shared with me in an email how bewildered she was at the spiritual things she was experiencing. She told me she had asked the Lord "for the sky" and later found she could change the weather. She had also found she could sense what someone was going to say or what they were feeling and at times know as the phone rang who it was. She ended her email, "Are these just spiritual gifts from the real God or is there something wrong?"
I wrote back to her, "There's nothing at all wrong in the spiritual gifts you've been experiencing. You should be rejoicing in them as a fulfilment of the promises God gives in the Bible of gifts by His Holy Spirit and answers in response to prayer." Then I told her of Elijah changing the weather, of Jesus promising the Holy Spirit would "tell you things to come" and of prayer that results in us receiving our desire. Where are we at in our churches that a climate of fear can exist over manifestations of spiritual power or giftings? Ja.5:16-18, Joh.16:13, Joh.15:7.
These days we live in are the days Joel the prophet spoke of telling how God would pour out His Spirit and would show "wonders in heaven above and signs in the earth beneath". Jesus has "given gifts to men" so let's make sure we're living in full expectation of a demonstration of the presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives and of the power of prayer. Maybe you don't want to change the weather but let's look to God that we may lay hands on the sick and they recover! Act.2:16-21, Acts 4:30.
Expect signs and wonders to the glory of God!
