Turn on the light!
He sent His word and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.
Psalm 107:20 - NKJV
Picture a man in a room beating and flapping at the darkness trying to get rid of it. He's not even thinking of finding the light switch! This sounds silly in a physical setting, doesn't it? Is it any less silly in a spiritual setting though? If a man beats and flaps at spiritual darkness trying to get rid of it he won't make the slightest bit of difference to it!
Beating at the darkness. If you're honest you have to say this is what Christians often end up doing when they find themselves in darkness. What should they do? Instead of standing there trying to beat the darkness out just let the light in! Let the light in and the darkness will flee of itself. You have to turn on the light or open the shutters to the light. You have to illuminate the sphere of your life with God's Word. The entrance of God's Word gives light. Turn it on, let it shine in and you'll see where you are and what you have in Christ Jesus! You'll see a way forward. You'll see Heaven's provision. Psa.119:105,130.
If spiritual or soul darkness seems to close in on you what should you do? Open your heart to God's Word! Let the Holy Spirit shine His Word into your heart. As you open your Bible, ask God for His Word to come to you by His Spirit. God sends His Word to heal you and deliver you from all that's destructive to you. Instead of thinking to strike out at the darkness seek the light switch for God's Word. The Holy Spirit will shine the light of God on you and the darkness will have to back off in a rush! Mic.7:7-8, Joh.1:5.
