For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace There will be no end.

Isaiah 9:6-7 - NKJV

The government will be on His shoulder - Jesus' shoulders are broad enough to carry it! I want all of my affairs to be found at all times within the sphere of Christ's kingdom so in prayer I keep placing them there. I want Jesus to be in government over them. Jesus knows best how to govern and it's no trouble to Him!

Whenever I find myself agitated over my affairs - and it regularly happens - then I know I need to take prayer action. In prayer I need to shift the responsibility for them from the sphere of me to the sphere of Christ's kingdom. I have to stop carrying my burdens and anxieties and instead cast them on the Lord. I want Jesus to be in charge. He is the Prince of Peace. He rules in His kingdom in peace and for peace. My affairs need to be under that rule. Peace reigns where Christ rules! 1Pet.5:7.

You and I can help our affairs a little but Jesus can help them a lot! Where His government increases peace increases. It's peace we need over and in our affairs. God's peace is "shalom". In English peace often only infers tranquillity. "Shalom", however, goes further to infer perfect well being and all necessary good - a state of wholeness in which our affairs and people can thrive. That shalom peace is given to you in Christ Jesus! Joh.14:27.

May Christ govern in peace for you!
