Thinking as God thinks
I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.
Psalm 139:14 - KJV
The apostle Paul was a man who was thinking as God thinks. This is why he would say things like, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me". Likewise, in thinking as God thinks he wrote, "My earnest expectation and hope is that in nothing I shall be ashamed (rather) Christ will be magnified in my body." Is this how you are thinking? 1Cor.2:16, Phil.4:13, 1:20.
As believers we have born again spirits. How come more of us don't have born again thinking? It's because born again thinking is something we have to take up in our souls. This is why Paul under the influence of the Holy Spirit calls us to the renewing of our minds. God wants us to have born again thinking to match our born again, new creation spirits! The world and those around you will be aware of your born again condition as much as your soul communicates it. The soul is where your thinking goes on. Your spirit has to interface with this world via the soul. Eph.4:22-24, Ro.12:2.
Although conduct can arise from the heart, nevertheless, much of how we act and respond is influenced by our souls. It's so important therefore that our souls get established in what our hearts know by revelation! With king David, for example, it wasn't only in his spirit that he acknowledged God's works were marvellous. It was also in his soul. Let it be that way for you too. It has been revealed to your heart how marvellous God's work is; now let it be known to your soul also. By your offering of praise to God and by God's Word let your soul be established in the knowledge of God.
May your mind be renewed in Christ!
