Words of change

by Pastor Simon

On Mount Zion there shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness; the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions.

Obadiah 1:17 - NKJV

How's your car doing? How's your computer performing? Do your possessions serve you providing assistance and facilitating your labours? Or do they hinder by constantly requiring repairs and services? The verse above gives us a grand promise, "the house of Jacob (God's people) shall possess their possessions." It's declaring God will enable us, His people, to possess our possessions.

We have possessions so that they may serve us. Too often we let possessions to get out of hand in the attention they require. We end up serving them! Jesus gave us authority over things. He told us that things are subject to the words of our mouth when our heart is established in faith for the outcome. He instructed us to make request in His name and order things in the earth. For this reason, there are times when I verbally issue a requirement to my things, my possessions. This doesn't mean I don't service and maintain them but, having reasonably done that, I speak to them if they aren't serving me well. In the name of Jesus I make a requirement of them to perform as they should. Mar.11:23, Joh.14:13-14.

Many people end up speaking to objects out of frustration. Speak to your possessions from a heart of faith before it gets to that point! Speak in the name of Jesus and call for order and compliance from them. Confidently require compliance from your appliances. Then, with the peace of God keeping your heart and mind, continue your work with renewed confidence and an expectation that they will serve you well. Joh.16:23-24, Phil.4:6-7.

Instead of voicing frustration, speak in faith!
