Your sins are forgiven!

by Pastor Simon

Zacharias, his father, filled with the Holy Spirit and speaking like a prophet, said (over John his son), "It will be for you to give His people knowledge of their salvation through the forgiveness of their sins."

Luke 1:77 - J.B.Phillips' translation

Salvation. You have come to salvation by coming to Jesus. When you realise that means forgiveness from your sins and you'll appreciate how great a salvation that is. Forgiveness of your sins is at the heart of salvation. John the Baptist presented to God's people the knowledge of salvation with the words, "Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world." In accepting the Lamb of God you have accepted that taking away of your sin. Joh.1:29.

Jesus liberates you from sin and its curse. Read the Gospel's and in Jesus' ministry you'll see a demonstration of what happens when sins are forgiven. When the paralysed man was lowered through the roof Jesus said to him, "Son, your sins are forgiven you" and with that He called to him, "Arise, take up your bed and go to your house!" It was the first man Adam who brought sin into the world. Everyone of us, as a result, has suffered under the curse sin brought. Nevertheless, God's forgiveness of sin through Christ brings salvation. It is salvation from the curse. It is salvation from separation from God. Mar.2:5-11, 1Cor.15:21-22.

Find in scripture God's promises and proclamations of the forgiveness of your sins that God has granted you in Christ. When you find them declare those promises and proclamations. Speak them aloud over yourself. Ask God by His Spirit to write them in your heart. Ask Him to establish their truth in your life. Mic.7:19.

Oh, the joy of knowing your sins are forgiven!
