Rest from adversity
Blessed is the man whom You instruct, O Lord, And teach out of Your law, that You may give him rest from the days of adversity.
Psalms 94:12-13 - NKJV
Here's the question to ask yourself, "Am I one that the Lord instructs and teaches?" Specifically, you need to ask, "Am I one that the Lord instructs and teaches from the record of His promises, counsel and commands given through His prophets and apostles?" 1Joh.2:27, Heb.8:11.
Have you answered yes? Then you are blessed of the Lord! You are blessed because as such a person the instruction and the teaching you are getting from Him is leading you into rest out from the days of adversity. Notice that there is no promise given that days of adversity will not come. However, promise is given that the days of adversity in your life will have an end. Adversity will be overcome, you will be delivered from it and you will enter into His rest from it!
What if you answered no? Then you need a remedy! What can change things so you become a person who is receiving instruction and teaching from the Lord? The first requirement is for you to acknowledge your absolute and urgent need for the Lord's counsel and help. The second requirement is to be actively and readily responsive to Him. The unresponsive person receives little in the way of instruction and teaching from the Lord because of his unresponsiveness. Pray like this, "I need your counsel and help desperately in my life. I will take time to receive it. I will respond to every counsel you provide. Teach me Your way, Lord, and instruct me." Psa.25:9, Prov.1:23, Isa.28:29.
May adversity surrender to peace in your life!
