Faith of Abraham

by Pastor Simon

He (Abraham) did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God.

Romans 4:20 - NKJV

From whom can we learn about operating in faith? Consider Abraham - after all he was called the father of faith! The moment's right to look again at faith. It looks like many Christians don't quite grasp what faith is and how faith can be something you walk in. As a result, many get frustrated and disappointed while trying to operate in faith and some even give up trying. Heb.11:1.

"Are you a believer?" is a common question. Actually a real believer is someone who not only believes that God is but also believes He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. This is the faith of Abraham. Abraham was a believer. He believed that what God had promised He was able also to perform - in fact, he was fully convinced of it! We may be aspiring to be believers as Abraham was but until we're fully convinced of God's promises as he was then we aren't yet fully walking in Abraham's footsteps. "Fully convinced" is what's necessary if you're going to walk as Abraham walked and receive as he received! Heb.11:6, Ro.4:21-22.

Abraham's receiving resulted from his believing. He received from God a child in his old age while every physical evidence declared it wouldn't happen. He received because he was fully convinced. He believed in that absolute sense of being fully convinced. Don't be alarmed if you aren't in that place of absolute belief yet. Instead, be assured you can get there! Start today spending time giving glory to God and hearing, at every opportunity, the preached word of God! Ro.10:17.

Walk in faith as Abraham walked!
