Living in a high place

by Pastor Simon

'Let him who glories glory in this, that he understands and knows Me, that I am the Lord, exercising lovingkindness, judgement, and righteousness in the earth. For in these I delight,' says the Lord.

Jeremiah 9:24 - NKJV

Christians often experience their early Christian life a bit like a roller coaster. They are up one moment and down the next! They are high in the Holy Spirit on Sunday but on Monday feeling down in life again. Nevertheless, as a person grows in Christ the descents become less and he or she stays up in the Holy Spirit. The plan of God for His people is to live constantly in a high place! Psa.27:5.

What's the secret to living consistently at a secure height? It's learning to glory in the Lord! Our human inclination is to glory in success, accomplishment and influence. As God gives these things, it's appropriate to be glad and excited about them. Yet, if you want to live consistently at the high place God has for you in Christ then your glorying in life has to take on a new focus. As Christians, our glorying in this life needs to get centred on God and our relationship with Him! We need to become revellers in the Lord! We need to revel that we understand and know God and His lovingkindness.

Do you want to reside consistently in a high place of victory in Christ? Then develop the habit of rejoicing in your inner man at knowing God's love, care and salvation for you. By all means, get excited at your external blessings but make the focus of your rejoicing what God means to you!

Stay up in the Lord all year long!
