You have been born all over again through the agency of the living and lasting word of God, and this time your father is not a mortal man but the immortal God.

You were born again, alive to the things of God and full of His life, when you received the Word of God - Jesus. It happened in much the same way as when you were born for the first time.
When you were born for the first time, a seed entered your mother's womb and soon a child was born - you. Likewise, when you were born again, an imperishable seed (the Word of God) entered your heart and a child of God was born - you!
You have God's Word on what has happened to you. You were given new birth upon your acceptance of Jesus. You were born again as a child of God.
