Peter, standing up with the eleven, raised his voice and said to them, "...This Jesus God has raised up, of which we are all witnesses. Therefore being exalted to the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He poured out this which you now see and hear."
Acts 2:14,32-33 - NKJV.
The disciples had been instructed by Jesus to stay in Jerusalem waiting to be baptised with the Holy Spirit. For this reason they were together in an upper room when the Day of Pentecost arrived. On that day the promised outpouring of the Holy Spirit began that was declared by Joel the prophet - and that the people were now seeing and hearing! (Joel 2:28-29)
God is still pouring out His Spirit today so that you can be filled with the Holy Spirit and so that people can still be seeing and hearing the result. As believers we are to receive the Holy Spirit. We are to receive the Holy Spirit and allow Him to fill our lives; in doing this God's mighty power will be made constantly available in us just as it was in Peter and the eleven.
