The Daily Guide
Word Power
I tell you, on the day of judgement men will have to give account for every idle (inoperative, nonworking) word they speak. For by your words you will be justified and acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned and sentenced.
Matthew 12:36-37 - Amplified Bible
When Jesus spoke those words above He was speaking of the impact - or lack of impact - your words have (and the effect at the day of judgement). He was speaking about your life here and now. Your words can make all the difference to the unfolding situations of your life. This is why Jesus made you responsible for your words!
Someone wrote to me, "What should I say when I drop something, hit my elbow, or something doesn't turn out right. I'll say, 'Good gravy!" or "well, poop!" Can I say 'poop'? It's better than what I used to say!" My reply was, "Why say any of those things?!" I then told her what we say at home. If I cut my finger while doing DIY, for example, then I immediately hold my finger and pray, "In the Name of Jesus, finger be whole, bleeding stop and be restored to perfect well-being!" If my wife scolds herself while cooking she'll cry out something like, "By His stripes I am healed" or "His Word is health to all my flesh!". 1 Pet.2:24, Prov.4:22.
Words have power! Idle words do nothing whereas God-inspired words change things or right things! Your words set things up for a supernatural righting of things or, on the other hand, your words condemn you to a natural outcome. If you hit your elbow, hurt yourself or drop or damage something, cry out a rapid prayer or speak out a fragment of scripture that promises your well-being! See Hebrews 11:2-3.
Your words can change things!
