Prayer Power

by Pastor Simon

Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory.

Ephesians 3:20 - NKJV

The church at Ephesus got quite a letter! In the portion above they are referred to "the power that works in us". What is that power? It's the power of the Holy Spirit in Christians. Paul told to the Ephesian Christians that God could do beyond what they could ask or think. He told them God was able act after the magnitude of that power of the Holy Spirit. Paul was looking for them to get beyond praying only requests they were able to think up.

God can operate far beyond the level of what you can think. Get beyond the place where you're only praying requests you're able to think. How can you ask for what you haven't been able to think up? Let the Holy Spirit take over your prayer! That's how you pray at the level of the power that works within you. How do you get to the point? By getting filled with the Holy Spirit by worship and praise in song. In that way, get so in the Spirit that when you open your mouth your heart wants to fill it instead of your mind. Your prayer will become a spiritual experience led by the Holy Spirit. Eph.5:18-20, Joh.7:38, Rom.8:26-27.

Most things get done or initiated through human thinking. That can yield a sort of success. However, with it the one thinking up the project or the initiative is the one who gets the credit. The apostles and prophets had a bigger vision. They desired God to get the credit for wonderful things accomplished among men. Give God opportunity to work beyond the limits of your thinkable requests! Pray in the Holy Spirit and see God get the glory! Jude 20.

May God's Spirit move you in prayer!
