Our map and compass

by Pastor Simon

Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my thoughts. Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life.

Psalms 139:23-24 - New Living Translation

I saw a picture. I saw Christians in a forest going round and round in circles. They kept passing by the same trees they passed by earlier without realising it. They weren't making use of map or compass! They weren't even taking them out of their bags. They thought somehow that if they blundered on long enough they'd eventually find their way. How different things would have been for them if they'd charted their course with map and compass! Psa.139:9-10.

The Bible is a Christian's map and the Holy Spirit acts for him like a compass. They will give you all the help you need to trek out of the wilderness. What will you have to do first if this is to happen? You will need stop! You'll need to stop blundering about and take time to get bearings and direction. God's Spirit will give you bearings. The Bible will be to you a map. God's Word and God's Spirit will show how to move forwards. Joh.10:3-4, Psa.23:1-2.

God desires for you to reside in a pleasant land. God is always ready and willing to lead you there. He wants you to be where you can enjoy His provision of well-being and all necessary good. He looks for an opening into your life for ministry. Take time for personal devotions. Such time in the presence of the Father makes that opening. In that time the Holy Spirit and God's Word can minister direction to you. Jer.29:11, Isa.32:18.

God's Word and God's Spirit show you the way!
