Shine for Jesus!

by Pastor Simon

We all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.

2 Corinthians 3:18 - NKJV

In my early twenties I found myself with many young people who, like myself, had newly come to Christ. I remember looking around and thinking, "Wow, look at the smiles on those faces! How beautiful with God's glory their faces will be when they are in their forties and fifties!" I was noticing how God's glory effects the way a Christian looks.

Many of them are in their fifties now. How do they look? Some, after awhile, went back from walking with our Lord Jesus Christ. Others, although they kept an element of faith in Christ, allowed things to work against their faces taking on Christ's glorious shine. Undealt with anxieties, fears and unforgiveness (with resulting bitterness) put a mask over the shine of their faces. A few (I trust I'm one of them!) stayed around Christ's glory and the "lines (of their faces) have fallen out in pleasant places". They kept dealing with the things that would have stopped the shine! Apostle Paul teaches how to deal with anxieties - Phil.4:4-9. Apostle John tells how fear is dealt with - 1 Joh.4:18. Apostle Peter instructs on releasing ourselves from unforgiveness - 1 Pet.4:8, 3:8-9.

Open your Bible and view within it the reflected glory of God. Let that glory shine on you. Ask in prayer that you be transformed by His glory from one degree of glory to the next. May the reflection of glory from the Bible give a reflection of glory on your face!

If Moses' face could shine so can yours!
