Your window on Heaven

by Pastor Simon

Elisha prayed, and said, 'Lord, I pray, open his eyes that he may see.' And the Lord opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw. And behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around about Elisha.

2 Kings 6:17 - KJV

I picked up my Bible. As I held it open in both hands I saw it like a window. It was as if it were a window giving me a view from my realm to God's kingdom. In truth, the kingdom of God is that close to us. We should be experiencing it that way. As I read my Bible my sight of God was renewed and my consciousness of His kingdom was refreshed.

Elisha's servant (see the Bible verse above) discovered the so-often-unseen but close proximity of God's kingdom! The prophet Elisha prayed and, at his request, his servant was able to see what Elisha already saw. What did he see? He saw Heaven's own horses and chariots gathered all around protecting them and ready to deliver them! The eyes of Elisha's servant were opened. His eyes were empowered to see into the realm of the kingdom of God. As you gaze with a sense of wonder into God's Word this can happen to you too!

What's the first thing you do when you wake up in the morning? Perhaps it's open the curtains. Probably you look out to see how the weather is and what's going on outside. It could be you open the window to let in fresh air. Spiritually this is what you need to do too. Open your Bible like you open the curtains and view the kingdom of God! By prayer and praise open your spiritual windows also! Breathe in the fresh air of Heaven. Prayer, worship and reflection on God's Word is the perfect way to start your day!

See God's kingdom surrounding you today!
