The disarming power of prayer

by Pastor Simon

He makes wars cease to the end of the earth; He breaks the bow and cuts the spear in two; He burns the chariot in the fire.

Psalm 46:9 - NKJV

On November 3rd 2001 a car bomb went off in the centre of Birmingham, England. The car had been packed with explosives and left in a busy evening entertainment area of the city. However, not a single person was harmed. How was this possible? Because only the detonator went off failing to set off any of the explosives!

The prayers of the saints had been answered. Believers had been praying. A word of prophecy had warned an event like this was going to happen. This got people praying. The car bomb did nothing because prayer had sealed it up and rendered it harmless! The scripture from Psalm 46 above declares to us an important truth. It reminds us that though man has free will in his actions yet God has retained for Himself the jurisdiction to step in and deal with war and its deadly weapons in response to the prayers of the saints. One can just imagine how the detonator couldn't reach the explosives because angels were binding it up. Heb.1:14.

Your prayers are mighty through God. Christ has given you the authority in prayer to govern; to be a determining factor on earth, to occupy the land holding sway over evil and promoting good. Pray over what God brings to your attention. You can't pray over everything but you can pray over what God brings to your attention. Pray in the name of Jesus! Petition with the precious promises! Whatever you bind on earth will be bound and whatever you loose will be loosed! Intercede in the Holy Spirit! Ja.5:16b, Joh.16:24, Mat.16:18-19.

God will hear your petitions and act!
