Copiers of Christ
Be imitators of God as dear children. And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.
Ephesians 5:1-2 - NKJV
How can we imitate God? In order to imitate God you've got to see Him and you've got to know Him! How can you possibly see and know God, our Heavenly Father? Here's what Jesus said, "He who has seen Me has seen the Father. From now on you know Him and have seen Him." Joh.14:9,7. You see and know God in seeing and knowing Jesus. You see and know Jesus through His words as they were recorded by the apostles and given by God's Spirit.
How did Jesus behave in the situations He faced? How did Jesus respond to the people He met? As you read the Gospels you can discover the answers. Jesus took authority over the conditions of earth. In the Gospels you read how He rebuked the howling wind that threatened to sink their boat. He also took authority over the demons of hell. In the Gospels you read how He marshalled them with His word and told them what to do. Notice also how He wielded that authority. He did it with His word. He spoke words of authority in a tone of authority in the power of the Holy Spirit. Mar.4:39 and Luk.4:36.
As well as the power and authority there was also the gentleness and goodness. Jesus showed compassion for the people who sort after Him. He forgave them. He healed their sicknesses. He comforted them and built them up. Jesus did all this by the Spirit of God and by the Good News of His arrival as the Christ. So likewise, by God's Spirit you can minister in His power and love and speak of the Good News that is in Jesus our Lord!
Walk in the footsteps of Christ!
