Hugs!
In the sphere of brotherly love have a family affection for one another, vying with one another in showing honor.
Romans 12:10 - Wuest's Expanded Translation
Hugs from sons and daughters, mothers and fathers and brothers and sisters in the Lord are important. In my church we hug one another with holy hugs - being in a Christian church that expresses Christian affection appropriately with hugs can be a tremendous blessing and support. 2Pet.1:7.
Would the singles of our churches wait more patiently for God-given partners in marriage if they were receiving holy hugs among us? Would our teenage children be less likely to get into sexual relationships if in the home they received the physical affection (hugs!) that their bodies and souls need? My own teenage children have plenty of friends but have not started with boyfriend or girlfriend relationships. For this I thank God. It gives them the chance to mature in mind and emotions to be able to handle these relationships more wisely when they come. I believe one reason they're satisfied with friends without boyfriend or girlfriend relationships as yet is because they receive the warmth of family and Christian affection expressed through hugs and similar physical contact from us as parents, especially from their mother. 1Cor.6:18-20.
It is important that we honour and care for our bodies as vessels that we are to dwell in comfortably and long on the earth. God wants us to continue on in life as a blessing to many. Although the common saying is, "An apple a day keeps the doctor away" how about this one as Christian saying, "A hug a day keeps the doctor away"? Sometimes you have to offer a hug to receive a hug! 2Cor.4:7.
Hug someone today!
