Linger Longer

by Pastor Simon

It came to pass in those days that Jesus went out to the mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God.

Luke 6:12 - NKJV

Jesus lingered all night in His Father's presence. As morning dawned He came down from His place of prayer with His heart full of a message to tell - one He had heard from His Father. He spoke what He had heard and He did what He saw the Father do. May His example cause you to linger longer in the presence of the Lord! Joh.8:38, 5:30.

Our Saviour Jesus walked the earth as a man but He lived this life in the Spirit. How are you living in life? You are clothed in flesh but are you looking to walk in the Spirit? Jesus left you an example so you could walk in His footsteps. Jesus made getting apart with the Father a regular part of His life! He withdrew often from life's busyness. He got away from earthly sights and sounds and comings and goings to be with the Father. There He communed with the Father, received from the Father and experienced the Father's glory and His power. The result was world changing and life giving! The Gospel writer declares, "Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit." Luk.5:16, 4:14.

People who carry God's glory are people who spend time in His glory! Prayer time is for them time in God's presence. In prayer, give attention to your Father. He wants you to hear His will and His way. He wants you to see His power and His glory. The apostle John the Beloved testified in the Book of Revelation, "I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day." What do you think that means he was doing? It means he was lingering long in the presence of the Lord! 2Thes.2:14, Heb.10:19-22, Rev.1:10.

Stay awhile in the presence of God!
