The Daily Guide
Personal witness
(You) having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever.
1 Peter 1:23 - NKJV
An email I received began, "I am a Roman Catholic and I'm curious about 'born again'." He went on to tell me he knew many people and relatives who were born again Christians including an uncle who was a pastor. He wrote, "We discuss the Bible but he doesn't understand and tends to criticize what we Catholics are doing." He ended his email, "I really want to know what is 'born again'?"
This man knew many born again Christians and none of them had explained what 'born again' meant. Instead of sharing their spiritual experience many Christians talk up their denomination while knocking down the denomination someone else is in. This left the man still sayiing, "I don't know if that is a religion, a sect or what." It shouldn't be this way. Each of us who have been born again have an amazing human story to tell of a miraculous transformation through the new birth. People are usually all ears to hear a good story. They especially enjoy a true story when it's told by the person that it happened to. You have a first-hand, first rate story to tell!
I took time in my email reply to explain about the new birth. "'Born again' is not a religion," I responded, "It's a spiritual condition." "Jesus talked to Nicodemus about being born again," I told him, "You can read it in John 3:3-8." "It's a condition," I explained, "that you can come into in the same way I came into it." Have you told someone about the new birth and what it has meant to you? Share your story and end with the words, "It happened to me and it can happen to you too!"
Share with others your spiritual experience!
