People of colour

by Pastor Simon

If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another.

1 John 1:6-7 - KJV

We've all seen, I imagine, a black and white film. We call it black and white but technically it's actually greyscale. I watched a film that started in greyscale and then one by one the film's characters started to see in colour and be in colour. The sudden changes from greyscale to colour were a thrill and delight to the senses!

I prayed this morning, "Lord, may we not be greyscale people but people of colour!" Those of us in northern climates know what a contrast there is between waking up to the dreary look of a cold, grey day and waking up to the bright colour of a sunny day in Spring. As people we can be like that too. As a new day dawns, are we to others in dreary greyscale or in bright colour? How does the landscape of our lives look? A landscape at night time reveals no colour but as the Sun comes up and shines upon it its colour is revealed. So it is with us! It is in the light of the Son that we have colour. As we come out of the gloom and stand in the brightness of the Father's presence then Jesus, the Son, shines on us giving colour to our lives.

Step out of the gloom and into the brightness of the Son. Daily get where Jesus is shining on you - that place is where you're in heart to heart fellowship with your Father in Heaven. Don't appear before men in dreary greyscale. Be colourful to those around you. "Lord shine on our lives and make us people of colour! Lord, may we live in all the colour of Your kingdom."

Let the Son shine on you!
