Isaiah 40:30-31 - New Living Translation

God renews the strength of His people by the ministry of the Holy Spirit. As you wait in the Lord's presence the Holy Spirit anoints you with the fragrant, revitalising oil of Heaven! The oil of the Holy Spirit refreshes you and gets you moving freely again releasing you from your groaning from weariness. Psa.45:7-8, Ro.8:11.

The Amplified Bible has the following to say about the anointing oil of the Holy Spirit. "Athletes (of ancient times) anointed their bodies as a matter of course before running a race. As the body, therefore, anointed with oil was refreshed, invigorated and better fitted for action, so the Lord would anoint His 'sheep' with the Holy Spirit, Whom oil symbolizes, to fit them to engage more freely in His service and run in the way He directs." Wow, isn't that just what we need in these days? Our lives are under strain from so many commitments and pulled in so many directions but we want to go God's way and we want to go freely with the vitality of an athlete. Isa.40:29.

Whatever your circumstance you can be refreshed by the Holy Spirit! Have you been struggling under a weight of tiredness that sleep or normal physical rest does not take away? If so, resort to God. Enter the presence of the Lord! Lift up your hands in the Heavenly sanctuary and bless the Lord. Reach up in the Spirit to receive the outpouring the Holy Spirit's ministry oil. Let it flow over your whole being. God's oil can refresh you right through to your innermost being.

May your lips exclaim, "My God, my strength!"
