Overflow
They all ate and were filled, and they took up twelve baskets full of the fragments that remained.
Matthew 14:20 - NKJV
One year, to start off the year's Christmas celebrations, we had a dinner party for the church. It was held in candle-light in our church hall. We didn't hire in help we catered it ourselves drawing on the catering skills of some of our members. It was a wonderful time together. Every imaginable kind of Christmas food seemed to be there. Eating went on right through the evening and no one could finish it all. At the end there was lots of food remaining. This was all gathered up and taken home by the families of those who'd done the catering. Two or three days later those families were still eating from it. It couldn't have come at a better time for them.
Doesn't that remind you of a Bible story? While Jesus was ministering with his disciples an overflow of provision like this happened out in the wilderness. A lad contributed five loaves and two fishes and then Jesus took over the catering. Five thousand men (with women and children besides) were then fed and afterwards there was still twelve baskets of food left over. I wonder who took it all home? And how many days afterwards were people still eating from that over abundant provision?
You better get ready for overflow when you are working on God's things and He's working on yours! When God is your provider you can expect His provision to be more-than-enough. Why? Because God supplies out of His riches in glory through Jesus Christ! Be accepting of overflow. Never be embarrassed! Simply declare who has done it. It's a testimony of His lovingkindness. Phil.4:19, Luke.6:38.
Take a chair at the Lord's table! Ps.23:5.
