The Daily Guide
One of Christ's people
In a single body there are many parts, and each part has its own function. In the same way, although we are many, our union with Christ makes us one body, and we are individually living parts of one another.
Romans 12:4-5 - Barclay's Translation.
You aren't living this life of faith alone. Others are companions with you. You are an individual but you partake of the anointing and blessing that flows down upon the whole body (the Church) from Christ, the head. You also partake of the grace given to the body. What's more the prayers of each saint benefits every saint!
I awoke one morning feeling heavy. I wasn't sure what the reason for this was but I knew getting into the Lord's presence and looking for His refreshing was the solution. I was prompted to read aloud in Romans 12 and as I read the fourth and fifth verses the Lord spoke to my heart saying, "You aren't in this on your own - you have brothers and sisters in Christ sharing with you their grace and their prayers!" It was just the encouragement I needed and I began to rejoice. Lightness returned to my spirit. When I then went down to breakfast I found a letter on the table. It was a message of love from some friends in Christ and with it was a gift. What a wonderful confirmation of the Lord's message to me! Phil.3:3
Often you find many things and many people drawing on your energy and calling for your prayers. Have the vision that it is not as an isolated individual that you respond to it but as a member of His body. Next time you're feeling weary, remember your link with all the other members. You share with them in a pool of grace, strength and prayer!
You are a saint in the assembly of Christ
