Take delight in the saints
As for the godly (the saints) who are in the land, they are the excellent, the noble, and the glorious, in whom is all my delight.
Psalm 16:3 - Amplified Bible
What you have delight in you rejoice over! If you have delight in God you rejoice over Him. The psalmist David had delight in God. He also had great delight in the godly in the land, the saints, and over them he rejoiced. In contrast, the prophet Elijah in a time of pressure when he needed to be doing it failed to do it. What was the result? He ran off to a cave where he hid in utter despondency. 1King.19:9-10,18.
I woke up one morning and felt in need of a pick me up for my soul. So, as I took my devotional time, I requested in prayer a reviving for my soul. Then I started to worship. As I did so this scripture portion came into my thinking, "In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore." I knew that came from Psalm 16 so I opened my Bible and read the rest of it. Verse 3 stood out to me. It got me stirred up to rejoice over the godly in my land. I began thanking God for the godly men and women who were so dependable to stand by me in church. Do you know what happened as a result of that? A wonderful refreshing came into my soul. Psa.16:11.
Could that be the answer to your restlessness or dissatisfaction of soul at this time? It could be you need to joyously give thanks for people in your life who have steadfastly shone for you with the light of God. You may be surprised how many people will come to mind. Take time thanking God for those people and you'll be encouraged and refreshed. 2Thes.2:13.
