Kingdom blessings!

by Pastor Simon

O the bliss of those who realise the destitution of their own lives, for the blessings of the Kingdom of Heaven are theirs here and now.

Matthew 5:3 - William Barclay's Translation

Look at all the people in the Bible who went down to the depths before they ever went up to the heights. There was Jonah trapped in the belly of a great fish. There was Joseph thrown in a pit and sold into slavery. There was Elijah running for his life and hiding out in a cave. All these men had to realise the destitution of their own lives before they could truly experience the blessings of the kingdom of God!

While you think you have what it takes for success why would you look else where? It's only when you wake up to your own inadequacies that you reach out for a solution beyond yourself. It's only when you acknowledge you're not such a perfect person that you call out for a Higher Power to intervene. Isn't it sad that for so many of us it takes a catastrophe to bring us to that point? In my case the devil tried to destroy me with a trampoline accident. I ended up with a broken neck and unable to move. From that point I started to look beyond myself.

And yet no catastrophe is necessary! It's the devil's business to engineer destruction. God is in the saving business. He wants to save you from the devil's plots and reveal to you His goodness. Give God an opening. Read His Word and commune with His Spirit. Let there come into your life the revelation that in comparison to what God has you have nothing! By it you'll be hungry for God and ready to live out of Heaven's resources.

In Christ you can do all things!
