The prophetic word to you
Do not neglect the gift that is in you, which was given to you by prophecy with the laying on of the hands of the eldership.
1 Timothy 4:14 - NKJV
God by His Spirit speaks prophetically on the earth on two levels - on an individual or personal level and on the level of the grand plan of God for mankind. On the level of the grand plan of God for mankind the Holy Spirit speaks in an absolute way. For example, the Spirit declared a Saviour would be born. Such prophecies are absolute in their nature because they are about the plan of God for all mankind.
To you on an individual level prophecy is not given absolutely. The Holy Spirit doesn't say about some detail or details of your life, "This will absolutely come to pass" but rather He says, "Here is a possibility I'm declaring over your life". Why is it like this? Because the things declared are dependent on what you do and how you walk in Christ from that time on. Timothy, for example, was given a gift by prophecy but this gift was not having much manifestation. It seems Timothy wasn't doing much about it. Paul had to write to him, "Stir up the gift!" 2Tim.1:6.
There are things in my life I pray towards and work towards. They are things the Holy Spirit has shown me can happen for me. They may not all come into being. Nevertheless, I am confident many of them will so I zealously pursue them. As for those that don't I will enjoy the journey! The process I engage in towards seeing things come to pass is worthwhile in itself. I am changed by it for the better.
Pursue the possibilities the Holy Spirit shows!
