Light for your path

by Pastor Simon

The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, And He delights in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; For the Lord upholds him with His hand.

Psalm 37:23-24 - NKJV

God's word has a voice. It's a voice that gives comfort, encouragement and guidance. This voice, however, is only heard in the hearts of those who have given it residence there. Christians who have taken up God's word in their hearts hear often the voice of God's word. They find it voicing to them God's good will and His favourable way in the wide variety of situations that life presents.

How does the word get in your heart? You have to ponder it by speaking it to yourself. Reflect on its implications to you. The word meditated upon will speak to your heart in times when you are welcoming the Holy Spirit to minister it to you. Take to heart that word that speaks to you. Receive also what it says to you. Bite into the word, chew over it, taste and see that the Lord is good! Get God's word in your heart. Psa.34:8-9.

God's word in your heart is able to keep you upright and on track. God's word in your heart voices counsel and encouragement in moments when you most need it. The more word there is in your heart, the more it is available to speak to you in times of need. King David declared that the word was a lamp to his feet and a light to his path. It was this to him because he had the word in his heart as light. This light shone on his way as it voiced God's will and way for the on-going journey of his life. Psa.37:31, Psa.119:105, 130.

May the voice of God's word provide you light!
