Tasting of God's goodness
Oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness, And for His wonderful works to the children of men! For He satisfies the longing soul, And fills the hungry soul with goodness.
Psalm 107:8-9 - NKJV
Our hunger for God is important. Having a hunger and a longing for God is prerequisite for partaking to the full of His goodness and experiencing yourself satisfied with the satisfaction only He can give. Your longing for God makes space for God. Your hunger and your longing is you acknowledging the insufficiency of your own sufficiency. It is you reaching out to God for the sufficiency that comes only from above. You want to know God, to partake of His goodness and to be satisfied spiritually in your innermost being.
King David the psalmist hungered for God. The apostle Paul hungered for God. Both of them had tasted of what this world offered and found it could not satisfy. In their hunger for God they resorted to God and received from God. Out of the fullness they received they blessed others. It is no different in these times we live in now. Men and women who hunger and thirst for God go to God and receive from God. They revel in His goodness and acknowledge that He satisfies them in life. In turn from that store of good things they then were able to bless others also. Psa.36:7-9.
To you who have a sense of inadequacy and failure in your life I say, "Go to God!" God can fill you with His adequacy and satisfy you with His goodness. Hunger and thirst for God and in resorting to Him in times of worship and praise you will be satisfied. Psa.63:1-5, Psa.103:1-5.
The Lord will satisfy you!
