Care hampers courage

by Pastor Simon

The children of Israel journeyed from Mount Hor by the Way of the Red Sea, to go around the land of Edom; and the soul of the people became very discouraged on the way.

Numbers 21:4 - NKJV

Where does discouragement come from in our lives? Often the reason for our lack of courage is the heaviness of care on our hearts. We have allowed care to settle on our hearts burying encouragement beneath it. Those cares should be presented to God. He has told us to leave all our concerns with Him. We are to walk away from them. We are to be confident that He will sort out all that we had been concerned over. Phil.4:6-7, 1Pet.5:7.

In order to get to the place where you can do that you have to pour out your heart before God. Quick prayer requests can be heard and answered but regularly you have to take enough time to fully pour out your heart to Him. Get all your heart's contents into His hands. This doesn't mean having a moan and complaint session. It means drawing up from your heart to commit to Him all those heavy, painful and troubling issues of your life. He's waiting to handle them. He'll touch your heart with healing as He takes them from you. Psa.62:8.

God desires you to have His peace. For this it's important you know His promises to you. It's also important you know what a powerful relationship He has brought you into with Himself through Jesus. The apostle Peter reminds you, "He cares for you!" The apostle Paul declares, "How shall He (God the Father) not with Him (God the Son) freely give us all things." Ro.8:32.

Give God your cares; deposit them in His Hands!
