Take a break
Commit your way to the Lord, Trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass. He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your justice as the noonday. Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him; Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way.
Psalm 37:5-7 - NJKV
It isn't always good to keep pushing for results. Sometimes, in order to make progress in the long term you have to back off from the "coal face". You have to go "up top" and take a break so later you can return refreshed and with a new perspective on things.
I took a break from things one particular weekend. My wife Ruth and I had an overnight stay away. By the time I was travelling back I had a fresh mind for things and renewed vigour. The previous week had been a difficult one. Mid-week a number of our ministry web sites were moved to a new host. Although this should have gone smoothly it actually threw up some annoying technical issues. These issues called for tracking down and resolving. I found myself pushing at them at every moment I could make for it. In the end, though, it was through backing off that the breakthrough came. Returning from my break with a fresh mind I saw that adopting a different approach to the problem would resolve the issues and bring a long term gain.
It takes faith to back off and rest. You and I need to "labour" in God's word and prayer so we can enter into that rest. It is such labour that imparts faith to our hearts so we can cease from our own works. By that way of faith we can release our works from out of our hands, hearts and heads and let them be God's works. Then, after that rest, we check back with Him for any instructions He may have regarding them. Instead of toiling we rest and having truly rested we let God show us His view of things. Heb.4:1-10.
Rest in the Lord!
