A believing-in-Jesus day

by Pastor Simon

Jesus answered and said to them, "This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent."

John 6:29 - NKJV

Are you having a believing-in-Jesus day? It doesn't happen automatically even as a Christian. OK, you believe in Jesus but having a believing-in-Jesus day is more than that. A person who's having a believing-in-Jesus day goes further than just the foundational faith that Jesus is Lord. That person is trusting in and relying on Jesus as there for them in each moment. Other people are trusting for human solutions. That person is trusting Jesus will come through for them.

It doesn't come naturally this faith that relies moment by moment on Jesus. Such faith comes spiritually. It requires work or, it might be better for me to say, labour. You have to labour in God's Word to have faith like that. Believing in Jesus requires you labouring in God's Word. John the Beloved said he'd written the words of his Gospel so we "may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing we may have life in His name." This means you have to take time with those words so that through them you can be believing. Labouring in reading and pondering those words written by John is the work you have to do to be believing. Joh.20:31, Ro.10:17.

What should be your first job of the day? To believe in Him whom God sent! How is that a job? It's a job because you have to put time into it. The time needed is time with God's Word reflecting on it and taking it to heart. Let your mind ponder a declaration of scripture and let the Holy Spirit deliver it to your heart as light. Psa.119:105, Joh.15:26.

You'll rely on Jesus today if you hear His words!
