Love covers
With all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love, endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
Ephesians 4:2-3 - NKJV
Not everyone likes us and we regularly find we don't like everyone. Our preferences in life sometimes clash or sometimes it's other things like the social backgrounds which seem to clash. Nevertheless as Christians we can walk in love with anyone we meet. As Christian we can also live in brotherly affection with the Christians with whom we gather.
In spite of personality clashes and social or cultural differences you can get on. God's love in you makes this possible. This is a work of God's Spirit. The Holy Spirit puts God's love in your heart and that love changes you. It changes you by its beautiful, divine influence. It changes the way you react to others. For example, when someone says something that normally irritates you under the influence of God's love you pass over it. The Bible says, "Love covers the multitude of sins". Love covers like sand covers sharp stones. It provides a walkable pathway. By it you can go between people and find unity together with them. Rom.5:5, Gal.5:22, 1Pet.4:8.
Walk through the process that the apostle Peter gave us for bringing this about. Peter says, "Along with your faith, manifest also a noble character: along with a noble character, knowledge; along with knowledge, self-control; along with self-control, power of endurance; along with power of endurance, godliness; along with godliness, brotherly affection; and along with brotherly affection, love." Follow it and get a fresh start with difficult relationships. 2Pet.1:5-8.
Love is greater than likes!
