A Strong Tower

by Pastor Simon

The Lord passed before him and proclaimed, "The Lord, the Lord God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in goodness and truth, keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin..."

Exodus 34:6-7 - NKJV

Some media commentators are already calling 2005 the Year of Disasters. We've seen the tsunami in Asia, a catastrophic hurricane in the Southern States of America, an earthquake in Pakistan, floods in Guatemala and terrorism in London. Where are we to find safety? The Bible's clear answer is, "The name of the Lord is a strong tower; The righteous run to it and are safe." Prov.18:10.

I want that safety so what must I do? First of all I ask myself, "Am I the righteous?" Yes, I answer! Everyone who has accepted Jesus as their Saviour can say yes for each one has received the righteousness of God through their faith. Now what? We run to the Name of the Lord! The Name of the Lord is a strong tower. In the Name of the Lord we are safe. What does it mean to run to the Name of the Lord. Well, Moses found out and he wrote a record of what happened so we might know it too. Ro.3:22

Moses broke all Ten Commandments in one moment of anger. In his recovery he asked the Lord, "Show me Thy glory." God's response was, "I will proclaim the Name of the Lord before you". And when He did the proclamation was, "The Lord, the Lord God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in goodness and truth, keeping mercy, forgiving." That is what you are to run to! Run to the glory expressed by that proclamation. Run to the glory represented by the Name of the Lord. Exo.33:18,19;34:6,7.

You can find safety in the Name of the Lord!
