Peace to enjoy

by Pastor Simon

Standing then acquitted as the result of faith, let us enjoy peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,

Romans 5:1 - Weymouth New Testament

How about that for a thought? Most New Testament translations of the scripture above simply speak of us having peace with God through Jesus Christ. In Weymouth's translation it's brought out that we should be enjoying our peace with God!

The peace of God is for you to enjoy. Indeed it does pass understanding how the peace of God can even be available to us people who so often fall short of God's plan of glory in our lives. However, it is so because you have it as a gift of God through Jesus Christ. For you the wrath of God has past. The enmity between you and God has gone. Jesus has reconciled you to the Father. Now you are in right standing with God. The gift of righteousness that comes to you because of your faith in Jesus has granted you that right standing. You are justified because of Christ's sacrifice on the Cross and His subsequent resurrection. 1Cor.6:11, 1Cor.1:30

How do you enjoy peace with God? First of all, rest in His love for you. No need to worry or fret. In His love for you as His restored child He's going to look after you and see to your welfare. Secondly, revel in the father-child relationship that you have with Him. To do this is to frequently run into His presence for comfort and refreshing. Have you spent time today in His presence? Resting in the Lord and spending time in His presence usually go hand in hand. Spend time in His presence and you will rest for the rest of the day in His love.

Today enjoy the peace of God!
