Spiritual recklessness
These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
Acts 17:11 - NKJV
Failure to search the scriptures is spiritual recklessness. By it some Christians have been drawn into doctrines held by sects. Others have come to Christ but never accessed all that was theirs in Christ's salvation. Still others have become sick and even died for want of God's Word. Joh.5:39.
Where is your Christian nobility? I get surprised when I preach and there are people who fail to open their Bibles or write down the scripture references. How do they know I'm sounding expounding the word of truth? "Well," you say, "they trust you." Yes, but those of Berea trusted the apostle Paul. Nevertheless, they searched for themselves the scriptures that they might have it revealed in their own hearts that these things were so. A double blessing came to them. One, they stepped onwards from simply believing to having the arm of the Lord revealed to them. Two, as the word searched was found it became to them life and health to their physical being! 2Tim.2:15, Isa.53:1, Prov.4:20-22.
In the early 1990s I sat under anointed preaching. At the time, much of what was being revealed was beyond what was then my spiritual place of understanding. Yet, I perceived in my spirit that the word preached was life-establishing. So I soaked it up like a sponge and noted down every scripture. For three months afterwards I daily searched those scriptures and pondered them. Out of it came a blessing of God that has continued in power and joy!
God's words are life to those who find them!
