On the road to well-being
A sound mind makes for a robust body, but runaway emotions corrode the bones.
Proverbs 14:30 - The Message
There's no getting away from it, your mind effects your body, your body effects your mind and your spirit effects both. You exist as a spirit in a body with a soul which is your mind, emotion and will. These three parts to your human make up impact on one another. You can't ignore the well-being of one and expect the other two to be unaffected by this.
I'm reminded of football (USA - soccer). Top teams, when on the offensive, pass the ball in triangles. While looking to break past the defense, they pass in triangles - player A passes to player B who passes it to player C and back again. If player A passes a good ball player B has got something good to work with. On the other hand, if he passes a bad ball then player B finds he's in all kinds of trouble. He struggles to get a good ball to player C. Likewise, your well-being is going to be a team effort.
Your spirit has the biggest impact on your well-being. Get your spirit strong in the Lord, nourished and built up by His Spirit and His Word, and it will do much to sustain the other two parts in vigour. It can't, though, do the whole job by itself. The soul has its part, the body also has its part. Your soul has to ponder precious promises and form words for your mouth to speak that are precious-promise-conscious words. Your body has to subject itself to a life-style of right eating, exercise and timely rest. Set up your spirit as captain over your body and soul. Resort to the Bible as guide for good living. Be well and you can be a blessing.
In Christ God has well-being for you
