Standing strong

by Pastor Simon

If you faint in the day of adversity, Your strength is small.

Proverbs 24:10 - NKJV

God looks to build order in your life. The devil looks for opportunities to disrupt the order. He hates to see God getting pleasure out of the prosperity of His children. The devil is well aware that as order gets progressively built into the affairs and lifestyle of God's children then they start to prosper. So he checks back to see if can do something to stop it. If he spots an opening, he'll bring a tree down on your tracks or let the fox loose in the hen house.

Do not be bowled over when your path of peace suddenly seems to get caught by a landslide. It's just your adversary the devil. He's fetching stuff down on you trying to knock the wheels off your wagon. Don't for a moment give him the pleasure of seeing you get dismayed. Remember Peter's exhortation to you, "Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you; but rejoice!" Follow Habakkuk's example of dealing with adversity, "Though the fig tree may not blossom...yet I will rejoice in the Lord." 1Pet.4:12-13, Hab.4:17-18.

Resist the devil! In the whole armour of God take your stand against his buffeting. In prayer call on the Lord to turn the flood-tide against him. Give him his marching orders. The weapons of our warfare - such as faith, hope, love, prayer in the Spirit and God's Word spoken aloud - are mighty and able to secure us in the peace God has granted us in Christ Jesus. Finally, take refuge in God your saviour. 1Pet.5:9, Eph.6:13, Isa.59:19b, 2Cor.10:4-5, Deut.33:27.

Rejoice and re-establish yourself in peace
