God's plan of salvation

by Pastor Simon

For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.

Romans 3:23 - KJV

Why do we need a Saviour? What do we need saving from? Questions like this all lead back to one reality of life. It is the reality of the presence of sin. Over this it is good to ask yourself two questions. 1) Is sin present in people's lives? and 2) Is there anyone on earth in whom no sin is found? The man or woman who honestly considers these questions concludes sin is present and no one is exempt.

You might ask, "Why can't we just live with it? Why do we need saving from it?" Because of, what can aptly be called, the Boomerang Principle. This is namely that what you put out in life comes back to you. When speaking of sin, it means the sin you've put out is going to come back towards and hit you in the head. There is an escape however. This escape is for someone to step in, catch it and so save you from it. If someone from our realm of sin attempted to do that he would himself be destroyed and you would still get whacked in the head. The only possible rescue is for someone from outside of this realm to come and do it. Jesus came from outside, to be as one of us and catch sin for all mankind. Gal.6:7, Rom.5:6, Phil.2:8.

Jesus came from the realm of Heaven to be born as a son of Adam but all the time as the Son of God. He lived and then died to catch the boomerang of sin. He has the perfect testimony that He was more than qualified for this. His resurrection is this testimony! Jesus Christ's act of catching sin for us is effective in the lives of all those who call upon Him. This plan of salvation is simple, believe in His resurrection and confess Jesus as Lord. Those who do this live in God's plan of salvation. They live life here and now as the redeemed of the Lord, as those who have been reconciled to God. We are they. We are the redeemed, the reconciled. Rom.10:9-10.

Salvation is for everyone and everyone needs it!
