The Daily Guide
Let your light shine
Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
1 Corinthians 10:31 - NKJV
May be it's your health, your finances or your relationships that aren't in a proper condition of well-being. You've prayed and petitioned the Lord according to the precious promises He's given you in scripture. Now you are waiting in expectation of a significant change for the better. You're committed to staying in faith for the recovery, to speaking words in line with your faith and to daily looking to the Holy Spirit for His guidance regarding steps you can take.
While you wait for that wonderful manifestation of God's answer what are you to do? In spite of the adversity, you can "show forth the praises of him who has called you out of darkness into his marvellous light". Granted this is challenging in the face of adversity, infirmity or tribulation. The key though is to worship. Worship, as Eugene Peterson says, is centering. It centres you on God upon His throne. Centred upon the throne you behold His majesty - you behold His power and His glory. Seeing this is seeing the eternal reality of life in Christ Jesus. Quoting Eugene Peterson once again, you see your "unaccountable unlovely middle is connected to a splendid beginning and a glorious ending." 1Pet.2:9, Rev.7:10, 2Cor.4:17-18.
It's surprising what you can find yourself doing when in worship you see "the splendid beginning and the glorious ending". The circumstance of your earthly life may be "unaccountable and unlovely" but that vision gives you wings. In Christ's victory there are possibilities for your life in spite of the earthly conditions. You can show forth His praises right there in the midst of the infirmity, adversity or tribulation. In the hope of glory you can shine. You can glorify your father in Heaven. 2Cor.12:9-10, Col.1:27, Mat.5:16.
As you wait, shine to God's glory
