God's New Covenant

by Pastor Simon

And for this reason He (Jesus) is the Mediator of the new covenant, by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions under the first covenant, that those who are called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance.

Hebrews 9:15 - NKJV

The Old Testament was ratified on earth for a people, the New Tesament was ratified in Heaven for you. Both the Old and New Testaments are covenants God established. By Testament we actually mean Covenant. They are what God has covenanted to do. They represent special relationships. Moses ratified the Old Covenant as between God and the Children of Israel. Jesus Christ ratified the New Covenant as between God and Himself. You come into it when you come into Christ. This is how this covenant is for you. Heb.9:11-10:18.

This covenant represents a special relationship for you with God. It means God is for you and against your enemies. He is by your side foryour good in all things. You might grasp this concept of covenant by realising that marriage is a covenant. The man covenants with the wife to be for her and by her side for her good at all times and vice versa. You have to learn how to live in a covenant relationship. It takes exploring the special relationship you have and recognising how it works.

God has brought you into a special relationship with Himself in Christ Jesus. Are you learning how to live in it? Are you recognising God has accepted a commitment to you in Christ Jesus? He is for you and on your side. Settle yourself into this relationship with all confidence, firstly, by seeing it is ratified by Jesus for you and, secondly, by knowing God's promises given to those in a covenant relationship with Himself. Reciprocate God's commitment to you with a commitment to Him.Eph.2:11-13.

Rest in the Covenant given you in Christ
