Staying at liberty in the promise Christ gave
The snare of the fowler (that is, one who catches birds in a trap or snare).
Psalm 91:3 - NKJV
Satan's most diligently worked strategy against the Christian is towards rendering him powerless. Satan is intent on seeing every Christian caught in an impotent lifestyle. He has heard the word Christ spoke over those who would become His disciples regarding power and authority. He has committed his resources to preventing that word finding fulfilment in them.
What word has Christ spoken over us that promises we will be a potent force in this life? He has said we will receive power after the Holy Spirit comes on us. Act.1:8. He has said He gives us authority over all the power of the enemy. Luk.10:19. He has said He came so we could have life in all its abundance. Joh.10:10. His apostle Paul has followed up on His words of promise and declared we who receive abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness will reign in life through Him. Rom.5:17.
What are you to do to walk at liberty in the promise Christ has given? The Holy Spirit moved in the apostles to write much in the way of instruction on how to win out against Satan's strategy. For example, you are to 1) ensure you don't get tangled up by the affairs of this life (2Tim.2:4), 2) lay aside the weights and sins so you can run enduringly (Heb.11:1), 3) "roll up your sleeves, put your mind in gear" (Peterson - 1Pet.1:13). Finally, remember the basis of your liberty, namely, live in the Word, continue in it that you may know the truth that leads to freedom in Christ. Joh.8:31-32.
