God's unbreakable word

by Pastor Simon

And the Scripture cannot be broken

John 10:35 - NKJV

How often have we missed the importance of this statement of Jesus because the Bible translators had it put in parenthesis? In it Jesus reiterates an accepted truth among the Jews in those days. The statement is simple. It says the scripture cannot be broken. Let's reflect on what we ought to be receiving from that. Let's consider what the response of our heart and mind should be to that.

Nowadays, if you hear the word "broken" what do you picture? You might picture your car broken and unable to get you to work or you might picture your toaster broken and unable to get your bread how you'd like it. Back in the days of Christ on earth the people might have pictured a pot broken and unable to be used to carry water or a cart broken due to a damaged wheel and unable to get anything anywhere. In complete contrast to those things the scripture cannot be broken. It always will be fit to accomplish the journey to the promised destination. It will always stand the test of reliability.

Take hold of a scripture today. Take time to look at what it's promising, establishing or declaring. You can rely upon it. Does it hold a promise relevant to your life? You can trust in that promise. It can be relied upon. God has spoken it. The scripture cannot be broken. Scripture is God's Word given by God's Spirit and conveyed to you by God's prophet or apostle. It is for you and towards you. It's waiting for you to believe it.

Let a scripture today settle you down in confidence
